June 26 – Azerbaijan Armed Forces Day.
The official celebration of the foundation of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces was first established by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Republic dated September 18, 1992. The date of adoption of the decision of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan on establishment of the Azerbaijani army after the restoration of the state independence of Azerbaijan in 1991 was announced on October 9, the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Heydar Aliyev dated May 22, 1998, that decree was repealed and the 26th of June was declared the Day of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan Republic.
