On September 13-14,on the initiative of the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex and in cooperation with the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan Republic, Genocide Memorial Complex in Guba, “MIRAS” Public Union for the study of Cultural Heritage, Georgian Caucasus Heritage Research Institute was held the “ First International Guba Symposium on Historic Places and Monuments “ in Guba. About 50 scientists and researchers from 5 countries participated in the symposium. The main purpose of the symposium was to bring together scholars and researchers studying cultural heritage, architectural and memorial monuments , ancient cities and people’s lifestyles in the regions.
Later, a plenary session began at the Museum of the Complex.
Plenary session: First of all, the anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, followed by the commemorating the martyrs. Director of the Genocide Memorial Complex, Doctor of Philosophy in History Rakhshanda Bayramova opened the meeting, greeted the symposium participants and wished success. Then deputy of the head of the Executive Power of Guba District on Humanitarian Affairs Saida Abbasova, doctor of historical sciences and professor Solmaz Tohidi and researcher of Nasimi and Hurufism Prof. Dr. Fatih Usluer made a speech. Recall that, 2019 is declared the year of Nasimi according to the order of President Ilham Aliyev.
Over 2 days the reports of the sc, Italy, Georgia and oth ientists from Azerbaijan, Turkeyer foreign countries were heard at the International Symposium. At the end of the symposium, the guests got acquainted with the Genocide Memorial Complex and the city of Guba.
