The state flag is a symbol of the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The sacred State Flag, waving today over the Republic of Azerbaijan, was first adopted on November 9, 1918 in Baku by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
A prominent Azerbaijani thinker, Ali Bey Huseynzade, is the author of the slogan “Turkism, Islamism and modernity”, which expresses the three colors of the state flag of independent Azerbaijan and forms the three main principles of our ideology of national independence.
