A scientific conference on "Genocide and crimes against humanity" was held in the city of Guba under the joint organization of "Genocide Memorial Complex" and "ASAN xidmet" center. The conference participants first visited the Genocide monument and laid flowers on the monument erected in memory of the people killed in 1918. / 29 March, 2023
The conference began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Later, the memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs was commemorated with a minute’s silence. Opening the event with an introduction, the director of the Memorial Complex, Dr. Rakhshanda Bayramova spoke about the convention adopted by the United Nations on December 9, 1948 for the prevention of genocide crimes and said that genocide is a crime against humanity regardless of where and how it occurs. The director of the complex also said that at the beginning of the 20th century, genocides were committed by Armenian Dashnaks in the territories of Azerbaijan, tens of thousands of innocent civilians were killed, and that these events were given a legal and political evaluation by the national leader Heydar Aliyev. Later, Ulvi Mammadov, the supervisor of the reception organization sector of the Guba “ASAN xidmet” center, spoke on the topic “Genocide causes, excuses and facts”. At the end of the event, which continued with the speeches of the employees of the complex and the service center, the guests got acquainted with the exhibition of books and booklets related to the events of the genocide.
